Welcome back to our series on choosing the right cookware for your kitchen. In our last post, we talked about non-stick options. Today, we're going to dive into the different material choices available and what makes each one unique. And, of course, we'll be highlighting some eco-friendly options from Two Pillars.
1: Stainless Steel
This classic material is durable, resistant to rust and corrosion, and doesn't react with acidic foods. It's also easy to clean and can go from stovetop to oven with ease. Two Pillars offers a universal lid made of stainless steel - the UniLid® - which is a perfect, eco-friendly replacement for plastic wrap.
2: Cast IronÂ
This heavy-duty material is known for its ability to evenly distribute heat and retain it for a long time. It's great for searing meats and can go from stovetop to oven without any issues. Cast iron does require some maintenance, like seasoning and careful cleaning, but it can last a lifetime. Two Pillars doesn't offer any cast iron products, but we still wanted to mention it as a great option.
3: CeramicÂ
This material is great for slow-cooking, as it distributes heat evenly and retains it well. It's also non-reactive, meaning it won't affect the taste of your food. However, it can be a bit fragile and may not last as long as other materials. Two Pillars offers a silicone microwave splatter guard mat, Duo Cover, which is great for reheating food and keeping your microwave clean.
4: Copper
This material is known for its quick and even heating abilities, making it great for cooking delicate foods like fish. It's also a beautiful addition to any kitchen with its shiny appearance. However, copper can be expensive and requires some maintenance to keep it looking its best. Two Pillars doesn't offer any copper products, but we still wanted to mention it as a great option.
5: Non-Stick
We covered non-stick options in our last post, but it's worth mentioning again as a material choice. Non-stick coatings are great for cooking foods that tend to stick, like eggs, and require less oil or butter. Two Pillars offers a reusable silicone storage bag, ZipBag, which is perfect for storing and transporting food without any sticking issues.
No matter what material you choose, it's important to take care of your cookware to ensure it lasts as long as possible. Proper cleaning and maintenance can go a long way in extending the life of your pots and pans. And with eco-friendly options like the Swedish Dishcloth, you can feel good about reducing your environmental impact while keeping your kitchen clean.
That's it for our material choices guide. Stay tuned for our next post where we'll discuss maintenance and care tips for your cookware. And don't forget to check out Two Pillars for some great eco-friendly kitchen products - they make great gifts for birthdays, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Valentine's Day, or even for your son or daughter's first apartment.
