Part 2 of 3: How to Make Healthy Smoothies | Blending Techniques and Tips

Welcome back, smoothie lovers! In part one of this series, we discussed the importance of ingredient selection and preparation for making healthy smoothies. Now, it's time to talk about blending techniques and tips to help you achieve the perfect smoothie every time.

First and foremost, let's talk about the blender. A high-speed blender is essential for creating a smooth and creamy texture. If you're in the market for a new blender, we recommend the Blendtec Designer 725 or the Vitamix A3500. These blenders are powerful and efficient, making it easy to blend even the toughest ingredients like frozen fruits and leafy greens.

Once you have your blender, it's time to start blending! Here are some tips to keep in mind:

1: Start with the liquid

Adding liquid to the blender first helps to create a vortex that pulls the ingredients down towards the blades. We recommend using unsweetened almond milk, coconut water, or plain water as the base of your smoothie

2: Add your greens

Leafy greens like spinach and kale are a great source of vitamins and minerals. To avoid clumping, add your greens in small batches, alternating with the liquid.

3: Add your fruit

Frozen fruit works best for creating a creamy texture. We love using frozen bananas, berries, and mango.

4: Add your protein

Adding protein powder or nut butter to your smoothie can help keep you full and satisfied. We recommend using plant-based protein powder or almond butter.

5: Blend away

Blend your smoothie on high for 1-2 minutes, or until smooth and creamy.

Now that you have the basics down, it's time to get creative with your smoothies! In part three of this series, we'll be sharing some of our favorite smoothie recipes using eco-friendly kitchen products from Two Pillars.
