Part 2 of 3: How to Cook Perfect Rice | Cooking Techniques and Tips

Welcome back to Part 2 of 3 of our How to Cook Perfect Rice series, brought to you by Two Pillars, the eco-friendly kitchen brand that has your back! In Part 1, we talked about selecting and preparing the perfect rice. Now, we'll cover cooking techniques and tips to make sure your rice turns out fluffy, fragrant, and delicious every time.

1: Cooking Techniques and Tips

  • Water to Rice Ratio: A key factor in cooking perfect rice is getting the water to rice ratio right. The general rule of thumb is to use two cups of water for every cup of rice. However, this may vary depending on the type of rice you're using, so be sure to check the instructions on the package.
  • Rinse the Rice: Rinsing the rice before cooking removes excess starch and helps prevent clumping. To rinse your rice, place it in a fine-mesh sieve and run cold water over it until the water runs clear.
  • Bring to a Boil, Then Simmer: Once you've added the water to the rice, bring the mixture to a boil. Then, reduce the heat to low, cover with a lid, and simmer until the water has been absorbed and the rice is tender.
  • Don't Peek: It may be tempting to check on your rice as it cooks, but resist the urge to peek! Every time you lift the lid, you release steam and heat, which can affect the cooking process.
  • Let it Rest: Once the rice is cooked, remove it from the heat and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before fluffing it with a fork. This allows any excess moisture to be absorbed and helps the rice to become light and fluffy.

Now that you know how to cook perfect rice, it's time to talk about serving suggestions! Rice is an incredibly versatile ingredient that can be used in a variety of dishes, from stir-fries to sushi rolls. Here are a few ideas to get you started:
